If your Adopt a Pet account is already set up for importing from software and you want to switch to a different software, for the cleanest switch, follow these steps below. Turning off the old software first will generate a new FTP password so if your prior software was using FTP, only your new software will have access.
- Optional: Before following these steps, use Pet Export and Adopter Export to save your data on your computer. (Your listings can not be restored from these files; just for your reference.)
1. Deactivate your old software's export within that software.
2. Login to your Adopt a Pet shelter/rescue account.
3. From the Shelter/Rescue menu, select AutoUpload/Import Pets.
4. Depending on the software, select "No" for Activate or "No (off)" for Enabled.
You then may see an choice to keep or delete your already-listed pets.
5. Click the Save or Update button.
