Here’s a brief 1-2-3 overview of how Adopt a Pet's AutoUploading system for software works. See the PDF file attached below with our full AutoUpload documentation.
Note: Our software "import" system, used by some software, is different.
- Your AutoUpload contact (info here) logs in to your Adopt a Pet shelter/rescue account. From the Shelter/Rescue menu, select AutoUpload/Import pets, your software or None of the Above, and clicks setup to generate your unique FTP server credentials. For multiple locations: Repeat on each account.
- Copy your FTP credentials into your shelter management software. Your software generates a comma-delimited file with your pet data (pets.csv), an import configuration file (import.cfg) and possibly pet photos. Most software uses photo URLs for transferring. Those files are transferred by your software via FTP to your account's FTP folder on the AdoptaPet.com servers. See page 12-13 of the attached PDF for more details.
- Assuming there are no problems with your files, our AutoUpload process will import your adoptable pet data into our database and will display your adoptable pets on your My Pet List and on the AdoptaPet.com website.
