Adopt a Pet now has three primary (first) dog breed values you can use for mixed breed dogs. HOWEVER.... BE AWARE these dogs statistically get LESS adoption interest on our website. Please read The Power of Dog Breed Labels in Pet Listings and our recommendations below before using:
Software Importing: Values must match or be mapped by you or your software exactly. For example, "Mixed breed small" will error and not be added.

Breed type values
Adopt a Pet has dog breed values you can choose with the words 'Unknown Type' in the breed name, to convey they are not exact or known dog breeds:
For bigger puppies or dogs:
Hound (Unknown Type)
Retriever (Unknown Type)
Setter (Unknown Type)
Shepherd (Unknown Type)
Spitz (Unknown Type, Large)
For medium to smaller puppies or dogs:
Spaniel (Unknown Type)
Spitz (Unknown Type, Medium)

Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)

We also have some commonly-used labels such as "Pit Bull Terrier" in addition to "American Pit Bull Terrier", "American Staffordshire Terrier" and "Staffordshire Bull Terrier" and "Cocker Spaniel" in addition to "American Cocker Spaniel" and "English Cocker Spaniel".
