You can now receive New Pet Alert emails for specific shelters and rescues. This makes it easier than ever for adopters (or rescuers) to find the dog or cat they are looking to adopt or rescue.
There are two ways to set up your specific shelter/rescue New Pet Alerts:
Option A: From pet search results

- Search for a Dog or Cat: Start a search at www.adoptapet.com by selecting the dog or cat tab, and type in your zip code
- Select Your Filters: After the initial results load, adjust the filters. First, choose one or more shelter/rescue in the Cared for by filter. Optional: Choose other additional filters, such as breed and age.
- Apply Filters: Click the apply filter button at the bottom to save your filter changes.
- Create an Alert: Now click the Create An Alert Button on the top of your results:
- Enter your email.
- Choose free (daily) or premium (pay for near-instant alerts)
- Click "Subscribe Now"
Option B: Directly from a Shelter/Rescue listing page:

- Visit the Shelter/Rescue Listing: Go to the pet listing page of a specific shelter or rescue. Adopters can find them by clicking on the shelter/rescue name on any pet page, or searching for shelters/rescues from www.adoptpet.com. - Click the Alert Button: At the top of the listing page, click the "Create Dog Alert" or "Create Cat Alert" buttons to set up your notifications.
- Visit the Shelter/Rescue Listing: Go to the pet listing page of a specific shelter or rescue. Adopters can find them by clicking on the shelter/rescue name on any pet page, or searching for shelters/rescues from www.adoptpet.com. Both methods are simple and designed to keep you informed about new pets that match your criteria from specific shelters and rescues. This way, adopters (or rescuers) are alerted when a new pet is listed as available for adoption.
