Adopters: How to contact a shelter or rescue

Adopt-a-Pet.com is an online listing service used by shelters, rescues, and private pet owners across North America to promote their pets for adoption to potential adopters. Adopt-a-Pet.com is not a shelter or rescue ourselves. We can not answer questions about the pets listed on our site. If you are interested in a pet you see, please contact the shelter, rescue, or private owner directly:

1. Search at http://www.adoptapet.com

2. Click on any pet photo to see their details page.

3. Read the pet's My Story as it may have contact instructions.

4. For shelter or rescue pets, read their Adoption Process. Each shelter or rescue is different: Some will ask you visit during open hours. Others may ask you to apply first.

5. Every pet has a button...

Shelters and Rescue pets have either:

or

or may have a blue Adoption Application link to apply.

If you see and click the phone icon button, it scrolls you down to the Contact Info section where you can see either a phone, email address, or both so you can call or email the shelter or rescue directly.

Private Owner pets have this:

Thank you!
