What happens if an adoption doesn't work out and we're the referring organization?

Are we required to take the pet into our care?

Absolutely not! As the referring organization, you are not required to take in a pet if a Rehome adoption doesn't work out.

When a private owner and adopter sign the Transfer of Ownership agreement, the adopter agrees to notify the private owner first and foremost, if the adoption does not work out. You can download a copy of the Transfer of Ownership agreement here.
