When you filled out the Adopt a Pet new shelter or rescue account signup form, you selected one of these three options:
For email only or phone AND email, your Adoption Inquiry Form defaults to ON and an "Ask About Me" button appears on your pet pages. If "Phone Number Only" is selected, the form will not appear.
How it works
1. An adopter views one of your available pets on the Adopt a Pet website.
2. They click that pet's "Ask About Me" and see this form:
3. They complete the form with their their info & message to you, and click "Send Inquiry"
4. Your show public email is sent an inquiry email with their info and message. Subject line:
Firstname Lastname is interested in Petname (#4321)
The inquiry email automatically includes information like pet 1st photo, pet name, pet ID#, adopter's first name, last name, and email address... and if the adopter provided it, their phone number, city/state, and impact questions about their home type, number of kids and current pets.
5. To reply to the adopter, reply to the inquiry email. That's it!
The inquiry form has checkboxes for adopters to opt-in to receive additional helpful communications from Adopt a Pet and our partners relating to pet adoption and care. Like our one-time follow-up email to find out if they've adopted yet. It asks "Have you adopted Fluffy" and has a YES or NO button. Based on their answer we know if it would be appropriate to send them information about caring for a new pet or to invite them to tell us why they didn't adopt and encourage them to keep looking for a pet to adopt. This use of our site visitors' information and your shelter or rescue information is covered in more detail in our our Privacy Policy.
